Cell Isolations Using Buoyancy, Not Magnetism

Theory and Applications of Microbubble Systems

John Younger, MD, the CTO and co-founder of Akadeum Life Sciences, will introduce Buoyancy Activated Cell Sorting (BACS™).

While magnetic particles have dominated the cell isolation field for decades, many users find them cumbersome to use, limiting in the range of volumes they can address, and difficult to process multiple samples at a time. An alternative approach to separation is to employ buoyancy rather than magnetism as the driving force.

In this seminar, Younger will discuss similarities and differences between magnetism and buoyancy for life science applications and will introduce Akadeum’s microbubble technology as a novel means of cell enrichment.
