Physician-scientist and biotech founder with substantial clinical, research, and start-up experience. John left a successful career in academic medicine to launch Akadeum Life Sciences in 2014. He is currently a member of the National Advisory Committee of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, the third largest institute within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This level of appointment is conferred at the presidential cabinet level by the Secretary of Health and Human Services and advises on a research portfolio of approximately $2.8 billion. John has 20 years of immunology and biomaterials research with continuous NIH and National Science Foundation funding as well as 25 years clinical medical practice including emergency medicine and critical care.
