Manufacturing Chemist/Operations Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic manufacturing chemist/operations manager to lead and grow the manufacturing team and contribute to other aspects of operations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring quality in manufacturing processes via current quality control systems, documentation review, inventory control, and proper training of new members
  • Generating the production schedule for the manufacturing team to meet external and internal needs for product(s)
  • Monthly inventory reporting of consumables and materials used in manufacturing as well as organizing the end of year inventory count
  • Inventory management: timely ordering of consumables and materials used in manufacturing, working with VP of Operations to ensure supply, reagents and consumables used within agreement scope
  • Scaling up manufacturing capabilities
  • Process improvements resulting in lower costs of goods sold
  • Development and incorporation of additional quality control systems as manufacturing capabilities and requirements grow
  • Interface with business development team to successfully incorporate custom manufacturing requests and partner agreements into production schedule
  • Lead weekly manufacturing meetings and report back to VP Operations on milestones, accomplishments, issues and concerns
  • Working closely with R&D to incorporate new protocols and formulations, coordinate testing of builds as needed
  • Play a major role in transition of new products from R&D to Manufacturing, and interfacing with marketing to ensure communication and milestones for new product launch completed
  • Commitment to a safety first laboratory environment
  • Willingness to step in and help with manufacturing as necessary

Qualifications

  • A background in chemistry, chemical engineering, and/or materials science
  • Excellent record keeping skills and high level of attention to details is required for success in this role
  • Good manufacturing practices and good documentation practices, including generating standard operating procedures, documentation review, and inventory control
  • Ability to clearly, accurately and effectively train new members in technical processes and on standard operating procedures
  • Desire to improve processes and step in to help wherever needed
  • Enjoy managing a small manufacturing team and leading the charge on the production schedule coordination
  • Startup business mindset, forward-thinking ability, and ability to manage up and down
  • Prior work with particle manufacturing, large scale mixing, and filtration processes
  • Prior work with bioconjugation techniques, organic synthesis, and assay development
